Destroying Compartmentalization | Benham Companies
There is a difference between preaching the Gospel of salvation and the Gospel of the kingdom. As Christians, we shouldn't be satisfied with just seeing people get saved, rather we should rejoice to see them fully engaged in the growth and development of the Kingdom of God. The entrance to this Kingdom comes through salvation, but salvation is not the final goal. The ultimate goal of the Gospel of the Kingdom is to have Jesus as both Savior AND Lord!
Lordship is a Kingdom principle. When Jesus is Lord in our life He becomes the ruler over all of it, not just part. He takes full dominion over our thoughts, motives, and actions in every sphere of life. Lordship destroys compartmentalization, which is prevalent throughout American Christianity today. When Jesus is Lord, everything we have belongs to Him, nothing belongs to us anymore. This is what happened to the church in Acts 4. And this was the Gospel that the Church was built upon.
Our focus is to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom, where Jesus is both Savior and Lord! Jesus cannot be your Lord until He's first your Savior, but He can be your Savior without being your Lord! As you start out your week and a new month are there areas of your life that need to be given over to God?
