As Jason and I travel and speak across the country many people ask us where we were trained in business. Our standard reply is always the same, "We were not trained in business, we were trained in the Bible." Although this may seem like a trite response, we cannot give credit to any training other than that of Bible study.

“For two years now there has been famine in the land, and for the next five years there will be no plowing and reaping. But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance.” - Genesis 47:5-6

“Do not make any gods to be alongside me; do not make for yourselves gods of silver or gods of gold. Make an altar of earth for me and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, your sheep and goats and your cattle. Wherever I cause my name to be honored, I will come to you and bless you. If you make an altar of stones for me, do not build it with dressed stones, for you will defile it if you use a tool on it.” – Exodus 20:23-25

"And now let Pharaoh look for a discerning and wise man and put him in charge of the land of Egypt. Let Pharaoh appoint commissioners over the land to take a fifth of the harvest of Egypt during the seven years of abundance. 

They should collect all the food of these good years that are coming and store up the grain under the authority of Pharaoh, to be kept in the cities for food. 

Psalm 147:11 - The Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.

Fear and Hope work together. The fear of the Lord leads us to the wisdom of God, and Hope in Him leads us to His overwhelming goodness. You cannot have one without the other. Fear alone leads to despair. Hope alone leads to presumption.

A good friend of mine, Levi Gray, wrote a blog on biblical manhood that I thought was excellent. I've taken the middle section of it and re-posted it below.  These are days when biblical manhood is needed more now than any other time I've seen in my life. A young man who I've been mentoring for a little over a year wrote me an email listing three victories God has given him in his life recently. I was so impressed with his honesty, faithfulness, and humility that I felt his email needed to be shared. I hope it encourages you as it did me that our faith is real and should affect every area of our lives:
